Traditional rulers across 18 communities in Ogbo Kingdom have lauded the House of Representatives Candidate for Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, under the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Adeola Azeez as she commissioned the 2nd Batch of road signage in different parts of Ogbo in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun state on Sunday November 13, 2022.

The 18 Communities that benefitted from the project include Ijagun, Imaweje, Isanya, Idagbo, Ijele, Okelamuren, Ilarowo, Ikofa, Iken, Odo Agamegi, Ilawe, Iwata, Ibido, Abapawa, Egbe Mosu, Odosunwaren and Odo Alaumapebi.

Speaking at the commissioning of the strategically located signages, Mrs. Adeola Azeez, who is daughter of Afenifere Leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo; said she donated the project in demonstration of her commitment to the development of communities across the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency and Ogbo in particular.

“I got married in this village. Behind my wedding invitations there was direction from Sagamu to the village. From the moment that I knew I was going to contest, it was in my mind that I will do the road signages for these communities from internal to external.”

Adeola Azeez who is also the Chairman, Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), said “This is the least thing any politician could thing of. I have always thought of doing things that are different and innovative. In getting to know a community, we were born into communities and baptized with names. But how can we have communities not knowing where they started and ended.”

She recalled that the first batch of road signages were donated to Ogbo Kingdom on April 17, 2022 on Easter Sunday and she had promised the traditional rulers that she will complete the exercise by putting the signage in the 18 communities.

Mrs. Adeola Azeez had embarked on diverse empowerment programmes benefitting over 300 vulnerable women and widows, including renovation of hospitals, donation of Ultra-Sound Scanning Machine, Back-To-School Project, among other developmental initiatives.

She maintained that these projects so far will improve the economies, business and entrepreneurial efficiency of the communities. She expressed commitment to unveiling more projects that will touch lives of people in other 14 wards in Odogbolu, including 11 wards in Ijebu Ode and 10 wards in Atan.

Addressing insecurity, the accomplished banker stressed that security of the nation is a collective responsibility. “We can talk about the Federal Government, State and Local government, but we need to help them.” Adeola Azeez said.

Speaking to newsmen, an indigene of Ijagun recalled that before the road signage project, locating some of the communities was difficult for visitors and road users, stressing that they often rely on landmarks around for direction.

Meanwhile, Baale of Isanya Ogbo Chief Balogun Abiodun Fatai, maintained that the people of his community will vote Adeola Azeez as Representative for Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, come 2023 General Elections.

“Some people going to Ijagun before will go through Ogbo while some going to Ogbo will head for Ijagun. But now you don’t need to tell someone he is at Ijagun. This is description made easy. No more missing roads. There are about 18 communities in Ogbo kingdom. A lot for the community to benefit in this development, for instance this road signage has put Ogbo on Google map.” An Ijagun resident explained.

Another respondent said the road signage project will encourage travellers to know how close they are to their destinations and will prevent names of some communities from going into extinction.
